Africa Trade Mission

September 12, 2010

In July-August 2010, DaCosta Gwendoline, Limited was part of the Trinidad and Tobago Energy Chamber’s Trade delegation to four countries in East Africa (Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya).  During the Trade Mission the delegation attended the Business Forum meetings of the African Union Summit held in Kampala, last July.

The Trade Mission was crucial for cultivating strategic business relationships and identifying opportunities in a region poised for economic growth with the recent formation a common market.  We were intrigued by the warmth, ingenuity and hard work of the people, and their knowledge and appreciation of Trinidad and Tobago’s role as an economy with over 100 years of experience in the oil industry.  The stark beauty of the landscape captivated us, as did the realisation of the potential opportunity to build upon and preserve a long and valued relationship between Trinibagonians and the vibrant East African nations we visited.
